Details
Design : Barion Old Mine (Bob Keller)
Origin : O'Briens' Creek, Mt Surprise, North Queensland, Australia
Clarity : Slightly Included, 4/5
Comments : This is a wonderful natural blue topaz from the O'Briens Creek fields near Mt Surprise. It has a very nice light blue colour that is natural and not caused by artifical heating or irradiation. The design is a variation on the classic "old mine" style. There are several small "horsetail" needle inclusions which are only just visible face up but do not detract from the overall beauty of the stone. They are interesting in their own right. There is a small minor inclusion veil/flaw (about 0.5mm in area) on the surface of the crown near one edge of the girdle. With the right setting this would be hidden. This gemstone is quite large and collectable. A very nice stone!
